At Berkeley Community Scholars, we offer two college success programs with one goal – completing a bachelor’s degree. The two programs are:
The Bachelor’s Degree High Hopes Scholarship Program is a college success program designed to provide advising, mentorship, career development, and support for motivated and talented graduates from Berkeley public high schools who are attending a 4-year institution in the Fall of 2022. Scholarship recipients will receive up to $16,000—payable in installments over four years. Scholarships will be awarded based on demonstrated financial need, academic and personal achievement. Funds awarded by the Berkeley Community Scholars (BCS) may be used for tuition, books, room and board, and incidental expenses in connection with the recipient’s college education.
The Community College High Hopes Scholarship Program is a college access and matriculation scholarship initiative designed to help Berkeley public school graduates advance on a path to earn a bachelor’s degree that begins with community college. Scholarship recipients will receive up to $1,500—payable in installments over three semesters. Recipients also receive college advising, workshops to support/assist efforts to transfer. Scholars who successfully transfer to a 4-year university will have the opportunity to apply for additional scholarship funds of $8,000 through the Bachelor’s Degree High Hopes Program.
BCS prioritizes students with demonstrated financial need, who are first generation to college, and who identify as part of a group underrepresented on college campuses.
