Last week, amid all the uncertainty and chaos, we decided to pause and do something simple: share what we’re grateful for.
Our team held a potluck and took some time to reflect on what we’re truly grateful for—the moments, the people, and the small wins that remind us why this work matters. We wanted to share those reflections with you.
Gratitude doesn’t have to be reserved for the big milestones. Sometimes it’s the quiet moments that matter most: a scholar texting to say they advocated for themselves with a professor, a mentor showing up month after month, the relief in a student’s voice when they realize they’re not alone.
These are small moments, right? But they add up to something much bigger.
And you help make them possible.
So today, wherever you are and however you choose to spend your time, we invite you to pause too. What are you grateful for?
Share it with someone you care about. Write it down. Say it out loud. Let it ground you. Even reply to this email and share it with us!
From all of us at BCS, thank you for being part of this community. For showing up. For believing in our scholars. For walking alongside them and us.
We don’t take it for granted.
Today, we hope you find moments of joy, even if they are small. And if you’re looking for something to be grateful for, we hope this community is one of them.
Happy Thanksgiving.
With gratitude and solidarity,
The BCS Team—Emily, Lee, Lynn, Ralph, and Sherry
