Our Organization at a Glance

At Berkeley Community Scholars, we empower Berkeley youth facing racial, economic, and other barriers to achieving their college dreams by providing a unique experience of scholarships, advising, mentoring, and a community of support.

Summer Celebration

We offer two pathways to one shared goal—earning a bachelor’s degree.

Our Bachelor’s Degree High Hopes Program is for Berkeley public high school students who will begin attending a bachelor’s degree institution (four-year college or university). 

Our Community College High Hopes Program is for Berkeley public high school students attending community college with the intention of transferring to a bachelor’s degree institution. 

We offer a four-tiered approach to success in college and beyond: college success advising, community volunteer mentoring, career readiness initiatives, and scholarship. Success comes from the combination of these comprehensive services.

A Clear and Thoughtful Recruitment Process

Here’s what you can expect from our hiring process:

  1. Application Review: Applications are received on a rolling basis and the first grouping will conclude Feb 28, 2025.
  2. Interviews Start in February: First-round interviews will be completed by February 28th. Second-round interviews will take place March 3 – 6. Presentations and writing samples will be a part of the process. 
  3. Final Interviews: The top two candidates will meet the full team and ask any remaining questions during the last two weeks in March through the first two weeks in April, depending on candidates’ schedules. 
  4. Timeline: We aim to have the new hire start on April 30 or May 1st. All paperwork will be completed in the last two weeks of April.
