This June, we were delighted to welcome our 2022 High Hopes Scholarship class. In total, 29 new students joined our program: 10 are attending community college and 19 freshmen are going to schools across the country from California to Chicago to New York. Additionally, five Community College High Hopes scholars transferred from Berkeley City College (BCC) to four-year institutions. All of our students are looking forward to the start of a new school year.
We also want to congratulate our Class of 2022 college graduates! They persisted through the pandemic to receive their diplomas in an array of disciplines including ethnic studies, business, engineering, nursing, biology, and film. Over 60% of these students graduated from a UC, 30% from Cal States, and two students graduated from Historically Black Colleges and Universities. We are so proud of them!
